What we thought was just a silly internet rumor actually turned out to be true thanks to Austin promoter Couch Professor Entertainment. The original new wave ’80s icons, Flock of Seagulls, will be performing a headlining show on Sunday, May 29, at Red 7. We just scored two tickets to the show and we want to give them away to one lucky Red River Noise reader.
For those who don’t know that Flock of Seagulls are more than just iconic haircuts and Grand Theft Auto theme song writers, the group hail from Liverpool, England. They took the U.S. by storm in the early ’80s when MTV actually played music videos, and many of the early videos were British “new wave” or “post-punk” as it is often referred to now. Their most famous mega-hits include “Space Age Love Song,” and of course, “I Ran.” The band was also featured on the popular VH1 series Bands Reunited in 2004.
Supporting Flock of Seagulls at Red 7 will be MVSCLZ, Missions, Red Falcon, Young Girls, and DJ Scorpio. Complimentary beverages provided by Graham’s Texas Tea.
We’ll be drawing for the pair of tickets on Saturday night, May 28. We will announce the winner on our Facebook page on the day of the show, May 29. All you have to do is click “Like” on our page to qualify. This only applies to fans in the Central Texas area capable of making it to the show.
