Vans Warped Tour will be kicking off their summer-long tour on June 15 at the Whiteriver Amphitheatre in Seattle, Washington. The line-up includes popular bands such as 30H!3, August Burns Red, and Anarbor to name a few. Out of the 100-plus bands that will be at Warped, it can be hard to narrow them down. So here is a list of the top five bands to check out at Warped Tour.
Action Item is an up-and-coming band that provides the perfect summer soundtrack for whatever you have going this summer. Listen to their single “Brave” below which can be found on their latest album, Resolution. This power-pop band—which includes Brian Cag on vocals and guitar; Anthony Li on guitar and cello; David Buczkowski on bass; and Dan Brozek on drums—has toured with Owl City, Hot Chelle Rae, and Allstar Weekend. They even have slots set to support Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Boys Like Girls.
blessthefall have just completed their new album which is set to release later this year. Their current album, Awakening, contains songs like “40 Days” which are easy to rock out to. Their genre is a mix of post-hardcore and metalcore with elements of screamo. Named by Kerrang! Magazine as “one of the world’s most explosive live bands,” blessthefall is a band that must be seen live. blessthefall is composed of Beau Bokan on lead vocals; Eric Lambert on guitar and vocals; Jared Warth on bass and vocals; Matt Traynor on drums; and Elliott Gruenberg on guitar.
Five Knives combines electronic music and rock to nearly perfection as demonstrated in their newly released music video for their song “The Rising”. This electronic dance music group, who is a member of the Red Bull Records family, is a brand new band with the looks of “making it.” They just released The Rising EP this year which is available for free download on their website. They are currently working on their first full-length album. The band is composed of Anna Worstell as vocals, Hall and Nathan Barlowe (who is also in charge of guitar) in charge of electronic elements, and Shane Wise on drums.
What began as a very casual musical partnership on the beaches of Costa Rica, has now morphed into one of Canada’s most successful indie-pop bands .The instrumentals and vocals in Vancouver-based trio Hey Ocean!’s latest album, Is, are very fluttery and make for some infectious indie-pop. Their energy, charisma, and feel-good vibe will be a nice break in-between hardcore acts at Warped. The trio is made up of members–Ashleigh Ball on flute, David Beckingham on guitar, and Dave Vertesi on bass, and all of them doing vocals—Hey Ocean looks to be a great up-and-coming band.
They have been on the charts for years and are now coming out with their latest album, Collapsible Lung, on July 2. It includes “That’s My Jam” featuring Owl City which is an upbeat and catchy summertime tune. The album, more on the pop side this time around, is an experimental album for Relient K being their first time having co-written a album. The band is made up of Matthew Thiessen as lead vocals, on guitar and piano; Matt Hoopes on guitars and vocals; Jon Schneck on guitars, banjo, bells, omnichord, nord, and vocals, and John Warne on bass and vocals.
Tracing Back Roots, is band’s third album, is set to be released July 23. The song “Hope” from the new album is a great combination of screamo and clean vocals with heavy instrumentals, which is something fans can always look forward to from them. The band consists of Joshua Moor on guitar; David Stephans as vocals; Kyle Pavone as vocals and keys; Andrew Glass on bass; Lou Cotton on guitar; and Eric Choi on drums.
