This Friday the 13th Stubb’s is proud to present JJ Grey & Mofro (formerly known as just Mofro) headline the outdoor stage. The band is touring in support of their latest album Ol’ Glory, their first release on Provogue Records. Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers open the show.
Along with their catchy lyrics, JJ Grey & Morfo know just how to captivate their crowd. The band’s live show is energetic and infectious. Ol’ Glory showcases the band’s talent and musicianship which has gained attention from publications like The New York Times. Their new album features a blend of soulful blues, rock, and Southern-inspired stories. Frontman JJ Grey is known for his creativity and living life to the fullest, not only identifying as a musician, but also a farmer, surfer and beer brewer. Grey created and designed Ol’ Glory’s album art himself.
JJ Grey & Morfo are originally from Jacksonville, Florida and have been together since the late 1990s. JJ Grey and Daryl Hance, the original two band members, signed on with Fog City Records as “Mofro” in 2001. Hance later left the band to pursue a solo career and Grey added his name to the band. Since then, JJ Grey & Mofro have captivated audiences at some of the largest festivals in the world like Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Festival, Glastonbury, North Sea Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival and Fuji Rock in Japan.
