It’s the year filled of nostalgia as many bands are reaching the 10-year mark of some of their most popular albums. This Saturday, May 23, Mae will celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Everglow, at Mohawk. First openers of the night will be Grand Rapids sweethearts Mike Mains and The Branches. Hailing from South Carolina, All Get Out will perform as direct support.
Mae reigned in the time that Warped Tour was on every teen’s 2006 summer bucket list. The Everglow was a the soundtrack to my 15th year of life, and almost 10 years later, it is still a great album. Between the beautifully done piano parts and frontman Dave Elkin’s dulcet voice, the idea of the band playing this album from start to finish is a dream come true.
After taking two years off from the road, All Get Out is back at it after releasing Movement, an EP of their newest material since their debut full-length The Season. Stacked up with a mix of new and old faces for his touring band, frontman Nathan Hussey has put his all into this music. Their songs are loud, not only in volume, but also in the words of Hussey’s message in each song.
Former Texas-based band Mike Mains and The Branches now reside in Michigan and have been tearing up the national touring scene for the past few years. Their pop melodies are infectious and are the perfect sound to kick off this bill of excellent musicians.
Mohawk is located at 912 Red River. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. All ages welcome. Show will be on the outdoor stage. Advanced tickets for this event can be purchased online here.
