Wednesday, May 20th, Toro y Moi will stop in Austin while on tour in support of his new album What For? Fellow South Carolinian Keath Mead will open the show at Emo’s. This night will be the last stop on Toro y Moi’s tour before a few festival appearances this summer.
Toro y Moi has taken a new approach with this recent release, his fifth album on Carpark Records. Frontman Chaz Bundick dabbles in more of a psychedelic-pop sound for What For?. His constant effort to switch up sounds is done so well that it seems to work out every time. This album, recorded in Bundick’s Berkeley home studio, draws inspiration from bands like Big Star and Talking Heads.
Emo’s is located at 2015 E. Riverside Dr. Doors open at 8 p.m. All ages are welcome. Advance tickets are available for purchase online here.
