If you’re in need of some early-week thrills, Trailer Space Records has you covered. The record store and performance space is bringing in Digital Leather, the spastic brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Shawn Foree, on Tuesday, Apr. 21.
Digital Leather started off in Arizona as a two-piece synthesizer-attack punk band, sonically akin to the legendary Screamers from Los Angeles and the Bay Area’s Phantom Limbs. Foree fleshed out the band, introduced elements of lo-fi and garage rock, and took Digital Leather out on the road in the states and throughout Europe. Their new sound caught the attention of the late Jay Retard, who not only released 2006’s Monologue on his Shattered Records label, but also took over managing duties. In 2008 Digital Leather released the raucous Sorcerer on Goner Records, and in 2009 they found a home (briefly) on Fat Possum Records. Warm Brother was their most ambitious release to date, chock-full of psychedelic numbers, synth-strangeness and lo-fi rock ’n’ roll.
Trailer Space Records is located at 1401 Rosewood Ave. The show starts at 7 p.m. Join the Facebook event page here. No cover, and remember – BYOB!
