Transmission Events and Lucy The Poodle Productions are teaming up to co-present the EP release show for Now We’re Here from local electronic dream-pop group Technicolor Hearts at Cheer Up Charlie’s on Friday, Mar. 6. The event will not only feature two stages of great local live music, but also accompaniment by Woven Feet dancers, DJ sets by Personal Best and Young Creature, tarot readings and Technicolor portraits by Jeremy the Artist.
Composed of musicians Naomi Cherie and multi-instrumentalist Joseph Salazar, the duo released their debut album Under The Big Blue Umbrella Sky in 2013. Their music is a futuristic fusion of dreamy synthscapes, orchestral layering, bass, drum machines and Cherie’s airy vocals. Now We Are Here is an eight track manifestation of this signature sound both current and new listeners will enjoy.
A quick FFFY (fun fact for you): The self-proclaimed “art project for lovers” were fortunate enough to have worked with the late Isaiah “Ikey” Owens (Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents) on two songs for Now We Are Here.
The performing acts supporting Technicolor Hearts on Friday include Total Unicorn, Borrisokane, Les Rav, Silver Ships, Francine 13, Delay in the Universal Loop (Italy), White Chocolate Rainbow Destroyer, and Las Urracas (ex-XYX) .
Cheer Up Charlie’s is located at 900 Red River. Doors open at 7 p.m. 21+ welcome. $5 cover. Visit the Facebook event page here for the complete lineup and details.
