Friday, Feb. 6, Austin-based post-punk group KNIFIGHT will be celebrating the release of their second full-length album, V, at Cheer Up Charlie’s. The supporting bill, curated by local PR and management company The Loyalty Firm, includes post-punk duo Night Drive and dark electronic act Gost. For those of you who are in a serious need of a Sisters of Mercy or Bauhaus fix, this show is for you.
KNIFIGHT’s new album, V, is the follow-up to last year’s Dark Voices. Their first album recorded with live drums, V is a dark, synth-heavy album that is a throwback to the danceable new wave movement of the 1980s. V also includes KNIFIGHT’s rendition of David Bowie’s “Breaking Glass” from his classic Low album.
Friday’s show will be the first chance to get a hold of the album before it gets a national release on Feb. 10. V will be available on LP, CD and download via KnifightMusic.
Cheer Up Charlies is located at 900 Red River. Doors open at 8 p.m. 21+ are welcome. $5 cover.
