Wednesday, Feb. 4, Red 7 plays host to an epic bill co-headlined by New Orleans-based noise-pop duo Caddywhompus and Austin’s own experimental psych-rock faves Boyfrndz. The show will serve as the kickoff for a two week co-headlining tour of the Southeastern United States sponsored by New Noise Magazine and Exploding in Sound Records. Both bands are headliner worthy in their own right, and to buy one ticket (or pay one cover charge) for both is a freakin’ steal.
Caddywhompus formed in 2008 and is composed of longtime friends Sean Heart (drums) and Chris Rehm (vocals/guitar). At first listen, it is hard to believe Caddywhompus are just two dudes with a drum set and guitar. Their music is multi-layered, sometimes hazy and often heavy, but it comes together to create an audibly rewarding experience. The duo will be touring in support of their third full-length record, Feathering a Nest, released via hometown label Community Records in November of last year.
Great local support comes Raw Paw Records recording artist Chipper Jones and Shmu, experimental rock side-project of Zorch member Sam Chown. Ft. Worth-based experimental indie band Cleanup round out the bill.
Red 7 is located at 611 E. 7th Street. Doors open at 9 p.m. All ages welcome. $8 cover for 21+. $10 for under 21. Show will be on inside stage. Visit the Facebook event page here.
