This is a big week for Austin-based soul-fusion band T Bird & the Breaks. On Tuesday the group officially released their third full-length album, HARMONIZM. While the band is giving fans multiple occasions this week to celebrate with them live, including a Waterloo Records in-store and South Congress release show at The Continental, the group’s final Austin release show you won’t want to miss is happening Saturday, Jan. 31, at Red River hotspot Empire Control Room & Garage. You may want to make plans now, as I expect this show will reach capacity.
Since forming in 2007, T Bird & the Breaks have evolved from a fun party band into a polished, vintage soul/funk band worth the hype. Lead by dynamic frontman Tim “T Bird” Crane, the group fuses lots of tight brass, percussion and backup female vocals with a hint of lo-fi to make an original “T Bird” sound. And FYI…they also do some pretty dope covers.
Empire Control Room & Garage is located at 606 E. 7th Street. Doors open at 8 p.m. All ages welcome. $12 cover at the door. Advance tickets for this event are available for purchase online here. Visit the Facebook event page here.
