Saturday, Jan. 31, Johannesburg, South Africa born singer-songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov’s nationwide headlining tour will make an Austin stop at Emo’s. He will be accompanied by up and coming Canadian songwriter Leif Vollebekk. It is sure to be a night of classic folk songwriting from two of the brightest new faces in music.
Gregory Alan Isakov is touring behind his critically acclaimed album, The Weatherman. Isakov’s music is beautiful, classic folk that reflects his traveling lifestyle, being a Colorado transplant from South Africa. As a result, his star is rising as evident by The Weatherman debuting at #1 on iTunes’ Singer/Songwriter chart. He has toured with big name acts including The Lumineers, Iron & Wine, and Josh Ritter.
Leif Vollebekk is a singer-songwriter on Missing Piece Records promoting his U.S. debut, North Americana. He has showcased at South by Southwest and was called a “breakout act of the year” at Newport Folk Festival 2014. His take on Ryan Adams style Americana includes touches of Jeff Buckley, offering a unique take on a time honored tradition of songcraft.
