The folks at The North Door invite movie-goers to their weekly Free Film Tuesdays event. Join event hosts Free & Queer Cinema on Monday, Feb. 17, as they present a screening of Saved!, with a pre-movie karaoke party.
Free & Queer Cinema is known for their fun filled movie events that almost always involve a dance party of some sort. The first 40 guests that arrive will receive a surprise gift, along with some karaoke on the Nintendo Wii before the screening begins.
Saved! is a comedic drama that features some early 2000 heartthrobs like Mandy Moore, adult Macaulay Culkin and Jena Malone. The story captures a young girl Mary (Jena Malone) as she attends a Christian high school. Everything seems normal, until her longtime boyfriend accidentally, kinda not on purpose impregnates her. Mary finds herself being ostracized, demonized and almost institutionalized as her former friends and mother turn on her.
The North Door is located at 502 Brushy St. and the event will take place at The North Door Main Stage. No cover. Doors open at 7 p.m. with karaoke, followed by the film at 8 p.m. Collection plates will be passed around to help revive a Queer Church outreach organization. For more information visit the ND’s website or the Facebook event page.
