The folks at the The North Door invite movie-goers to their weekly Free Film Tuesdays event tonight and every Tuesday this year. Tonight join event hosts Free and Queer Cinema for a screening of Bound, followed by their “Butch Feelings” calendar release party.
Free and Queer Cinema is all about fun when it comes to their screenings. A set of disco jams, Gretchen’s Disco Plague (It’s Infectious!) provided by Gretchen Phillips will be playing for all do dance. Along with disco jams, will be the release of the very first “Butch Feelings” 2014 Calendar, which will be unveiled and on sale at the event at $10.
The noir-esque drama captures the story of Violet and Corky, two femme fatales who are literally partners in crime. Corky, a badass ex-convict and her lover Violet come up with a money heist that consists of stealing stashed mob money, and if they get caught, they’ll just pin the blame on Violet’s crooked boyfriend. Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly star in this lesbian drama that pushes all the boundaries.
Entry is free as always, but donations for the Planned Parenthood (a health care provider and advocate of women’s health care), a non-profit organization Free and Queer support will be appreciated. Doors open at at 7 p.m., but the film will begin at 8:45 p.m. The “Butch Feelings” calendar can be purchased at the event or online after the event. The North Door is located at 502 Brushy St. and the event will take place at The North Door Main Stage. For more information visit the ND’s website or the FB event page.
