Emily BellEnergetic soulful/pop-rock singer-songstress Emily Bell is celebrating the release of her debut full-length album, In Technicolor, by hosting The Technicolor Ball alongside Hard Proof Afrobeat and Larry g(EE) at The North Door. The show will feature visual production by GypsySun and a portion of the proceeds will benefit local youth charity Grounded in Music–a non-profit organization that empowers Austin’s youth through the use of music.

Headlining the album release is singer-songstress Emily Bell whose voice and musical style captures an array of genres that range between soul, rockabilly and the classic ’60s rock ‘n’ roll sound. In Technicolor was recorded in rural Texas, produced by her partner and co-writer John Evans (John Evans Band) and engineered by Grammy-winner Steve Christensen. So far, In Technicolor has successfully pulled positive feedback; the album’s single, “Back to the Way I Was” has already drawn attention from 60 radio outlets and 80 video outlets, and her track “Hey Baby” has already been selected for the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau compilation CD Austin Music Volume 12. This year, she has performed at Pecan Street Festival, The Wine Down – ACL Live, MR Fest and shared stages with The John Evans Band, The Couch, The Tontons and Shakey Graves.

Performing before Emily Bell is beloved Austin-based band Hard Proof Afrobeat. The ten-piece band, which features instruments that range from brass to guitars and flutes to drums, is notorious for their jazz and funk infused style and unique take on Afrobeat. Recently, the band had their first vinyl release at The Scottish Rite Theater through Kept Records. You can cacth some of their talented members performing in other local bands such as The Calm Blue Sea, Ocote Soul Sounds and The Echocentrics.

Kicking off The Technicolor Ball is Dallas-based singer-songwriter Larry g(EE). His debut EP Weekends has received praise for his smart-pop, soulful and funk sound. Larry g(EE) has performed in venues in Los Angeles, California; New York, New York; Dallas, Texas; and occasionally here in Austin, Texas. He recently made his debut on national television on Jimmy Kimmel Live and will soon be featured on ABC’s Good Morning Texas.

The celebratory evening will be closing with a surprise guest DJ set after Emily Bell’s set.

North Door is located at 501 N I-35. Doors open at 9:00pm. Admission will be $10 at the door. Click on the links to visit the show post on Do512 or Facebook.
