Red River Noise’s Future of Indie showcase is chock-full with talented, must-see bands. And we have one rockin’ trio of Austin musicians to thank for the great lineup: The Boxing Lesson has curated this excellent lineup at our first ever Guero’s day party. It’s a big show thanks to Paul Waclawsky and company, and it looks like guitarist/vocalist Waclawsky, synth player Jaylinn Davidson and drummer Ben Redman are ready for a big year as well.
The band’s long-awaited full-length follow-up to 2008’s epic and spacey Wild Streaks & Windy Days will hit stores soon. Titled Big Hits!, the album is full of anthemic rockers like “Eastside Possibilities” and “Health is the New Drug,” while also taking the band’s post-rock flirtations and expanding them to Big Bang proportions with the stunning album opener, “Endless Possibilities.” Incorporating a backing orchestra and a wicked two-minute guitar solo, the track is The Boxing Lesson’s opus. And there’s still a good 40 minutes of memorable album left after the song’s closing piano lick.
Listen to “Endless Possibilities” below and check out The Boxing Lesson at our Future of Indie day party at Güero’s Taco Bar on March 12. The band will play at 6:15 p.m. RSVP on Facebook here and you could win a $20 Güero’s gift card. The event is all ages. No cover and no wristbands needed.
