On Saturday, Mar. 2, don’t miss out on some of Austin’s and Corpus Christi’s finest new bands to pop out on to the scene. With them they bring upbeat, psychedelic sounds of a sixties revival. Club Deville will be hosting these four greats along with the brand-spanking, new label straight out of Corpus Christi, Cliff House Records.
Local Austinites and mod-rockers, Modrag will kick off the night at 7 p.m. with a killer set filled with heavy folk-rocking mixed with a little blues-guitar that sounds far-out and trippy, but is so right on. Corpus Christi’s Peace and Quiet will hit the stage at 8 p.m. with some of pysch-rock’s darker elements of style mixed with lighter lyrics, resembling a very Dandy Warhols, Britpop invasion.
At 9 p.m, crowned heirs to Austin’s sixties garage-rock explosion and local veterans, The Ugly Beats will take the stage. With nearly ten years together, the band still parties like it’s 1965. Co-headliners, The Blind Owls are up next at 10 p.m. and bring back that rock-n-roll era sock hop sound with their strumming Stratocaster guitar and Beatles like (early-era) harmonizing.
Headlining the show at 11 p.m., Obscured by Echos perform with a recently revamped image. A wicked blend of keyboards from Aly Beaujon, dueling guitars from Gary Delgado and Kyle Abrams along with the sultry vocals and fancy footwork of Johnny Flores will surely keep you entranced into the midnight hour.
Club DeVille is located at 900 Red River St. $5 cover, 7 p.m.-12 a.m. 21+ are welcome. Visit the Facebook event page here.
