Wale was successful before signing to Maybach Music in 2011, but a music deal with Rick Ross is an aspiration to remain rich forever. Before solidifying himself as an inimitable artist with two (both absurdly enjoyable) Seinfeld-inspired mixtapes, Wale was known in the Northeast for his extensive work in blending the esoteric Go-go genre with hip-hop. And with the release of his latest Folarin mixtape still fresh online and talks of his third album being released in the spring, it would seem as if The Rap Ambassador from America’s Capital has no plans of slowing down.
Wale is set to perform at Emo’s on Thursday, Jan. 31. Expect new songs and a crowd as eclectic as the hip-hop as Wale demonstrates his thuggish take on the Go-go genre. Be sure to listen to Folarin below and download for free here.
Emo’s is located at 2015 E. Riverside. All ages welcome. Advance tickets are available here. Doors open at 8 p.m. Show starts at 9 p.m.
