Free Week continues at Red 7 from the inside out. This line up is almost too much to take in at one time and once again it’s free to the public. This event is almost like the grand finale of the annual mini-festival of free-ness and features some really great locals. Things kick off inside at 8:15 with the under 18 rock-n-roll prodigies Residual Kid, following with Megabig and Megafauna. Doom metal at it’s best, Sweat Lodge is up next, leading in to Smoke and Feathers, playing some sweet, sultry, psychedelia to ease your weary mind before it get’s completely blown away from the classical weeping violas and rocking guitar riffs of My Education. These guys make a marriage of multiple genres mix like it was made in heaven.
With all the excitement of the dueling sounds coming in and out of Red 7, you might have to take a breather. Being from Austin though, we are no strangers running from stage to stage as we are conditioned music fans. So, this should be a walk in the park.
Moving on to the outside, one of Austin’s coolest and favorite punk bands, The Crooked Bangs take the stage at 8:45, and following closely behind, is the electro-metal of Woodgrain at 9:35. Long-time Austinites and stoner-bluesmen, Tia Carrera, tear it up just in time for the last two headlining sets of the evening. At 11:30, The Fleshlights take claim of the stage and crank it with some hard-rockin’, punk as pleasurable as the name. Topping it all off with none other than new local heavyweights Eagle Claw, shredding some tunes at high velocity. This is the night you don’t want to miss.
Red 7 is located at 611 East 7th Street. Doors at 8 p.m. All ages welcome. Visit the event post on Do512 here.
