Like a perfect storm of hip-hop, two titanic tours are converging on Austin on Dec. 6 at the ND to wreck this town with underground sound.
It just so happens that Project Blowed co-founder and Cali legend Abstract Rude is rolling through the 512 on the same exact day that Rhymesayer’s Entertainment labelmate and genre-deconstructor Blueprint’s tour hits our city. So they’re teaming up to co-headline a show that’s sure to be one of the best of the year.
If you ain’t know, these two guys are spitters of the highest caliber and are appropriate on any head’s top-five list. Rude’s pedigree is unbeatable, coming out of The Good Life Cafe’s famed hip-hop workshop in LA. From there, Rude somehow only went bigger, founding what might be the world’s best hip-hop collective (Project Blowed) and working with some of the best creatives in the game, from Aceyalone and Myka 9 (as Haiku D’Etat) to the incomparable Daedelus.
Blueprint is no slouch himself, turning his roots as a church choir member into a 10-plus-year career pushing boundaries and thoroughly fucking with genres like a master. Print’s flow is brutal, precise and as creative as any other MC out there today, and he’s become known for his huge ability to connect with his fans.
We’re the only city in the nation getting this special line-up, which is actually the second time these two heavy-hitters have thrown down together in Austin (the last being in 2008). This show also brings all the backing acts for both A.R.’s Dear Abbey Tour and Blueprint’s The Deleted Scenes Tour, a list of guys that includes The Kleenerz, DJ Zole, B. Squid, Joaquin Daniels, DJ Raregroove, DJ Notion and D. Teknics along with a bunch of Austin artists as well.
That means that this is not one to miss if you’re even a casual fan of hip-hop, and you can pick up tickets here for $10, which should be done early to guarantee a spot. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show is at 8. You can check out a ton of each headliner’s work posted on the event page here. Hip-hop is alive and well in Austin.
