On Friday, Club DeVille, Capital Area Foodbank and Slacker Magazine present Musicians Against Hunger. Come and donate a couple of cans and reward your good deed by savoring some sweet tunes for helping in the fight against hunger. All donations will be given directly to Capital Area Foodbank of Texas.
The lineup includes a mix up, our concoction rather of many. Starting at 8 p.m., you can stay inside and enjoy DJ Czech and Adam Warped spin a spell during the show, in between sets and after sets. You can’t miss them. The lineup on the outside stage starts of with Boston band, Holiday Mountain. A beautiful mesh of reggae, experimental and cabaret styled notes linked together by vibrato songbird, Laura Patino. At 9 p.m., the constant flow doesn’t stop there with Rook. The experimental, reggae, indie-pop band. The bands website said it perfectly. “If you like home prepared meals, heady beers, fresh herbs, and quirky people, you’ll like us.” Couldn’t have said it better.
Next on the lineup, is Austin-based Fatback Circus. These guys are no strangers to charitable events. They have participated in other events sponsored by the American Cancer Society, Lance Armstrong Foundation and many others. They are a harmonious seven piece band with brass. They have a spirited Americana sound played on a versatile array of instruments that will put a smile right on your head-bobbin’ face.
Headliners Pyramid are a synthetic, space-age, experimental musical score of sweet synthesizers and drum machines. The first song on their newest album Lost in Space (2011) called “Space Odyssey”, starts off with what sounds like the beginning of a sci-fi movie or that it should have been put in the movie Blade Runner. A very cool, modern twist on some old school nostalgic synth.
Don’t miss this event and don’t forget to bring 4+ cans for a free ticket inside or you can donate $5 at the door.
