In the enormously over-saturated world of dubstep that exists right now, it’s a hard damn thing to get noticed. There are a dozen new dubstep artists every single day, so making it big on a national and international level means your tracks have to be good enough to stand out from the rest in a big way. If there’s any act in the scene that’s doing just that and is right on the edge of Skrillex-level fame, it’s Adventure Club, and they’re headin’ to the Beauty Ballroom this Friday, Nov. 9.
Adventure Club is a duo hailing from the hugely artistic city of Montreal, and what they do is big, melodic dubstep that is making huge waves online and off. In fact, this writer has heard Adventure Club tracks dropped by more than one major DJ in the last month alone, and they’re always some of the stand out bits of sets. Adventure Club’s remixes like that of Flight Facilities’ “Crave You” and Foxes’ “Youth” are among the best of the thousands of dubstep treatments of other genres out there, an opinion that the Internet seems to be agreeing with wholeheartedly by putting up YouTube views in the millions for both songs.
This is one of those groups that won’t be playing cozy venues for just a few hundred people for much longer, so this Beauty Ballroom show is an excellent opportunity to check them out before they blow the hell up. Local everywhere-men Andrew Parsons and Mad Classy are opening up for Adventure Club, meaning that the bass will be blasting and the party rockin’ til 2 a.m.
Doors open at 9:30 and you can get advance tickets for $12 at the Beauty Ballroom page here. Tickets will go up, so get ’em quick.
