Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nuthin’ to fuck with. You know that. I know that. Founding member The Genius, aka GZA, is one reason for that. While other members may have found more fame amongst mainstream audiences over the years, GZA is still the favorite Wu member for back packers and hip hop purists. His 1995 release Liquid Swords was one of many albums released in the mid ’90s that provided the soundtrack for hip hop’s golden era.
On Friday, October 5, Wu-warriors and casual fans alike in Austin will have the opportunity to experience Liquid Swords live as GZA performs a headlining show at Mohawk. As if that wasn’t enough to get you excited, Atlanta-based MC Killer Mike is on the bill. Sweet Valley (Nathan Williams of Wavves’ Beat Project) and Bear Hands round out the bill. The best part? We have two tickets to the show to give to one of our lucky Red River Noise readers.
We’ll be giving away a pair of tickets this Friday afternoon, the day of the show, on our Facebook page. All you have to do is click “Like” on the post when you see it on our Facebook page wall to enter your name into our drawing. Yes, this means your name can be entered more than once. We will draw a name and announce the winner before 3 p.m. This giveaway only applies to fans in Central Texas capable of making it to the show. Good luck!
Mohawk is located at 912 Red River Street. All ages are welcome. Doors open at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are available for this show here. Tickets are $20 the day of the show if not sold out.
