Cinema East, Austin’s Eastside outdoor summer film series, is powering through its first fall series. The films are all new, independent titles and the series includes post-screening Q&As with the filmmakers.
The upcoming screening is Marvin, Seth, and Stanley, directed by Stephen Gurewitz. The story is about two estranged sons, struggling actor Stanley (Gurewitz) and soon-to-be-divorced Seth (Alex Karpovsky), who return home to Minnesota for a camping trip with their father, Marvin (played by Gurewitz’ father, Marvin). As they spend their weekend together, past grudges are divulged, revealing a complicated family history. The film has been dubbed the “insecure comedy” and it is sure to make you laugh.
Marvin, Seth, and Stanley will be screened on Sunday, October 21, at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar at 7 p.m. The film will be followed by a Q&A with Gurewitz. You can get your tickets online here at the Alamo Drafthouse website.
