Whether you’re an out-of-towner come to taste of our delicious musical teats or you’re a real-ass Austinite looking for more than just the standard bar drunkery to wrap up this Friday and Saturday night (Oct. 12 and 13), it’s doubtful you’ll find a better place to do so than the Silent City Limits party at Pine Street Station. This 21+ event is one of them newfangled silent discos, meaning that it’ll feature some damn good DJs pumping tracks through your own personal set of wireless headphones, allowing you to get down to the boogie when you want and take them bastards off for a bit of a chinwag at your own discretion. The Future, bitches!
The way this business works is that there will be two stages, each of which has its own channel on the headsets you can tune into. On the appropriately named ACL channel, you’ll have local boys DJ Manny, DJ Orion, DJ Chicken George, DJ BigFace, Toddy B, Ram Z and Happy Happy James, which is an absolutely top-notch showcase of ATX talent. Coming in from out of town, J. Boogie, Motion Potion, U9lift and Manny Haze will be pipin’ in the noise on the SFO channel, giving you two options at any time what fer to get you some funk in yer ears.
This is an all-night shindig, kids, kicking off at 10 p.m. both days and not ending ’til the partier’s worst enemy (that being the sun) pops up around 6 a.m. We hear there’ll be a bar this year, which will convert to a juice bar once 2 a.m. rolls around for your non-stop hydration convenience. This event ain’t just about the jams and juice either, as the organizers (Silent Frisco) are raising money to keep open a venue at the famed Enchanted Forest. Silent Frisco threw the successful Silent Southby event at SXSW, so these fools know what they’re doin’ and should throw a damn decent party.
Peep the event page on Facebook and head to the Silent Frisco homepage to grab tickets early, as this thang is expected to hit capacity quickly. There are still one day and two day passes out there, so snatch ’em quick, party gremlins.
