Since Glen Danzig’s whine fest at Fun Fun Fun Fest in 2011, Austin has not yet forgotten his rants of unsatisfied stage specs, demands for French onion soup and his 45 minute tardiness. On Saturday, Frontier Bar will be rebuilding that semiburnt Misfits bridge with a free concert by former Misfits member Michale Graves. Special Guests include some of Texas’ veteran punk and rockabilly bands including Austin’s own Flametrick Subs and The Babyshakers, San Antonio’s Mariachis Del Infierno and Top Dead Center and Brownsville’s Back to Riverdale.
Kicking off the night will be Back to Riverdale featuring members from the bumble-gum coated, female-fronted punk band The Sweethearts. Next, the Baby Shakers will rattle some heads with their punk-infused, garage sound straight from the heart of Texas.
Southern rock band Top Dead Center will hit the stage midway through with a hard edged sound that can only be compared to Motorhead or Clutch. Later, make way for the Mariachis Del Fuego who will light up the night with their Tex-Mex psychobilly flare. Following up after is the Austin-based rockabilly band The Flametrick Subs with the hurdy gurdy vocals of Buster Crash, the sweet drum beats from Miss Fortune and Lefty Demarco will thump out the beats just like back in day at The Black Cat Lounge.
Headlining, Michale Graves of the Misfits has shed his skull ladened face for a more demure punk image and will bring the house down for this phenomenal free event playing Misfits songs from the days of old and will also be promoting his new solo release, War of Information, which is due to be released this fall.
The Frontier Bar is located at 2421 Webberville Road. Free for 21+ and $10 for under 21. Face painting station and photo booth provided by Oh Snap Photo Booths. Attendees are encouraged to also wear Batman costumes and apparel as Batman movies will be screening on the outside patio. Dressing up may help you win free drink tickets according to the event organizer’s.
