Tonight The Belmont will be hosting the “Keep it Local” showcase featuring Austin-based hip-hop artists SubKulture Patriots, 10YR., Parking and Kid Slyce. The lineup features a masterful dose of lyrical hip-hop, soul, funk and even some electro mixed in. The “Keep it Local” showcase will be held at The Belmont every second Friday of the month.
First on the bill tonight will be local scratch D.J, Kid Slyce serving up masterful mixes to keep the dance floor hopping. DJing only for three years and spending most time in Japan doing solely house and techno, has changed his ways to scratching like a DJing sensei. Also, to add to his already impressive resume, Slyce recently opened at Emo’s with local hip hop phenom Phranchyze for “The Queen Bee” herself, Lil’Kim.
Next on the bill is the underground hip hop crew, Subculture Patriots, whose concepts and ideology were created by Brian Tanton aka “The Brain”. In 2010 he linked up with Boo Radley from the rock/hip-hop masters, Spin Alley, RuDi Devino of Short Bus and Cap’n Kirk aka AK a former member of Diasporic and the Anti-Gravity Crew.
At 11 p.m.,10 YR., featuring Yadira Brown (L.A.X.) will be hitting the stage with their mix of soul and hip-hop. The electro hip-hop duo, Parking, featuring Ibrahim and Nicky Luna follow 10YR while DJ Kid Slyce closes the night out from 12-2 a.m.
The Belmont is located at 305 West 6th St. Show starts at 9 p.m. Admission if free. 21+ are welcome. Visit the event page on Do512 here.
