Thursday night, Frank will be hosting a varied showcase of Austin-based musicians. Pop-rock with Rebecca Butler and The Richards, indie/electronic with Les RAV, and indie-folk with Once Per Axis— the line-up refuses to provide a dull moment.
Headling the event is pop-rock songstress Rebecca Butler and her band (The Richards) composed of Sam Ogden, Pierce Saxon, Jordan Cook and Patrick Young. In the last year, the acoustic set featuring Butler and Ogden came together with new members, Saxon, Cook and Young; the expansion of Rebecca Butler and The Richards has successfully tailored the band with more pop, more dance, and more rock. Now that their musical style has come together, the band has plans to release a new album April 10, 2012. Rebecca Butler’s voice is a genuine treat, full of a warmth that compliments her pop-rock lyrics– capturing the mind of a quirky 20-something year old woman.
Female-fronted indie band, hailing from Portland, Les RAV brings a peculiar degree of creativity to the table; Les RAV will be bringing a rare genre to the evening. Emotionally captivating with intriguing vocals by Lauren Zoe and a fascinating group of instruments, the band provides a fascinating combination of indie/electronic/ambient feel. The quintet is composed of Zoe (vocals), Rob Willis (drums), Andrew Noble (viola, guitar), Jenni Wieland (French Horn), and Caleb Hans (violin). Successfully, they incorporate each musician’s talents into one eclectic ensemble.
Opening the showcase will be folk-rock band Once Per Axis. The band recently released of their self-titled, debut album in early December. Though they are recently surfacing to the Austin music scene, their sound is mastered and of distinguished quality. Their album, a harrowing folk presence, will without a doubt build up the rest of the evening for Les RAV and Rebecca Butler. Their self-titled album is available for free download on their bandcamp.
