The Austin music community will be celebrating the life of beloved local, Esme Barrera at The Scoot Inn on Jan. 12.
After Barrera’s unexpected and shocking death, the Austin music community pulled together to support each other and Barrera’s family through two of her favorite things: music and friends. The celebration is a benefit concert that will showcase eight local bands and t-shirt screen-printing that will be provided by Obsolete Industries. 100% of the proceeds from the door will be going to Esme Barrera’s family.
Performing at the benefit will be three piece lo-fi, indie-rock band, Follow That Bird. The band is fronted by Lauren Green on guitar, Paul Brinkley on bass and percussionist, Tiffany Lanmon. Currently, the Follow That Bird has plans to record their first full length album with Frenchie Smith Records at the Bubble.
The benefit will also be featuring post-punk, indie-rock band, Kingdom of Suicide Lovers; the upbeat power-pop/punk sounds of Love Collector and Neighbor; and the electro-pop synth band, Ichi Ni San Shi. In addition, The Dead Space, Foreign Mothers, and Eric Static will also be performing that evening.
The Scoot Inn is located at 1308 E. 4th Street. Doors open at 7:00pm. Admission will be $5-10, with all of the proceeds from the door will be given to the family of Esme.
